L to R:  Prince George’s County’s Municipal Affairs Liaison Doretea Burton presents Prince George’s County Proclamation recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month joined by Rob Baynard, Board Chair, Provider Council.

On October 10, 2024, the Annual Employment Awards Event at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland, brought together a community united in celebration—honoring the achievements of Prince Georgians with disabilities, the dedicated individuals who support them, and the businesses that empower them to achieve their dreams

Held annually in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Prince George’s Provider Council (Provider Council) honors the winners of its Employment Awards. This annual event, now in its 10th year, raises awareness of the inclusion and contributions of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life along with the professionals and employers that support them. Each honoree plays a vital role in ensuring that our community is inclusive for all, and each employee honored is an inspiration for others seeking employment in their communities.

The ceremony kicked off with this year’s keynote speakers including Prince George’s County Council Member Wala Blegay, Maryland Department of Disabilities Deputy Secretary Anne Blackfield, and Prince George’s County’s Municipal Affairs Liaison Doretea Burton. Each speaker set the tone for a morning filled with inspiring speeches.
