The Prince George’s Provider Council envisions a community that empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, inclusive lives in the community of their choice through the shared responsibilities of public and private partnerships.
COLLABORATE
We work in partnership with our members to increase communication and sharing of Best Practices between Providers of a wide range of supports for people with intellectual/ developmental disabilities in Prince George’s County.
Collectively our membership employs thousands of people, including a large cadre of Direct Support Professionals who are responsible for the direct day-to-day support services for more than 2,800 Prince George’s County residents daily. Services range from employment support to day activities to residential support to personal care and case management.
The Provider Council is extremely active and involved in a host of activities that contribute to member agencies having the resources they need to improve supports to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and enhance the skills and quality of Direct Support Professionals. Our efforts promote the visibility of the provider community and strengthen the infrastructure of Prince George’s County system of support. We believe we must ensure that our services are available to those who need them and that we are seeking to continuously improve the quality of services in our network.
MISSION:
To advocate, collaborate, and educate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
EDUCATE
We educate the community on the work we all do in support of individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities. By using a collaborative approach, we also coordinate training and distribute resources on the issues of service to the community.
ADVOCATE
We advocate to ensure people with intellectual/developmental disabilities living and working in Prince George’s County have the support system they need to be successful and lead a meaningful life including securing sufficient funding to support services by our Providers.
COMMUNITY
We strive to increase the opportunities for those we support to live meaningful lives in the communities of their choice, where they can fully participate in the community activities they choose. We believe that true community inclusion occurs when everyone can work and play side by side regardless of their capabilities.
